Glens Falls Businessman Named Chair of the Employer Alliance for Affordable Health Care
ALBANY - A Glens Falls businessman will replace the founder of
New York’s largest single-issue grassroots business coalition as its
chairman.
The Employer Alliance Board of Directors appointed Jeff Leland,
president of Leland Paper Co. in Glens Falls, as chair during a special
meeting on Feb. 2. He will assume leadership from the organization’s
founder, Scott Miller, an Amsterdam businessman. Miller stepped down as
chair after four terms. He will remain on the Board of Directors.
Leland is the president of Leland Paper Company, a family-owned business
in Glens Falls started by his grandfather in 1951. He is a 1992
graduate of Siena College and has a bachelor's degree in marketing
management. Leland became involved with the Employer Alliance while
serving as his company’s vice president and general manager where he was
responsible for overseeing employee benefits, including health
insurance coverage.
The Employer Alliance for Affordable Health Care is the largest
single-issue grassroots business coalition in New York State. Founded by
a handful of business leaders in 1997, the group currently has 2,300
members - primarily sole proprietors and small to medium sized
businesses - who believe that everyone is entitled to basic, affordable
health insurance. The Employer Alliance for Affordable Health Care
opposes health insurance legislation that drives up costs and increases
the number of people without health insurance. To learn more about the
